North Lauderdale, Florida, in Broward county, is 1 miles E of Tamarac, Florida (center to center) and 30 miles N of Miami, Florida. It's part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area. The city has an ethnically diverse population. It includes the first Municipal Charter High School in the nation. The climate is pleasant for most of the year.

North Lauderdale was initially conceived as "The City of Tomorrow" by the renowned architect Morris Lapidus. Mr Lapidus was the architect behind Miami's famed Fontainebleau Hilton, the Eden Roc and Lincoln Road Mall in the city of Miami Beach.

North Lauderdale was incorporated in 1963. The county had been a prominent agricultural area but substantial development, beginning in the mid 1970's has significantly changed the region.

North Lauderdale features a large number of parks for a town its size. The popular Biscayne National Park is nearby and includes interesting mangroves and offers clear water for those who enjoy snorkeling. The well known Everglades National Park is close enough to be visited by residents. Flamingo Gardens, a notable botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary and the impressive Butterfly World are located in the county. The nearby Fort Lauderdale offers beautiful beaches and is a popular destination for snorkeling and diving due to its excellent natural reefs. The region is well known for its large number of quality golf courses.
